Beat butter with sugar in a large bowl with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Lower speed and add in flour and vanilla, beating only until just combined.
Divide batter among muffin cups and bake in preheated oven to 350ºF (180ºC) for 18 to 20 minutes or until tester comes out clean. Cool cupcakes in pan on a rack for 5 minutes and remove from pan.
Dust over cupcakes with confectioner´s sugar.
• ½ cup nuts, or raisins, or chocolate chip, or dried chopped fruit may be added to the cupcake batter.
