    ONION AND CHEESE SCONES     

   Ingredients :
 
2 ½ cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup butter
1 cup parmesan cheese, coarsely grated
1 cup edam cheese or similar, coarsely grated
½ cup onion, finely chopped
1 egg
1 cup milk

   Preparation:

Preheat oven to 350ºF (180ºC). Grease a cookie sheet or use silpat. Combine flour, baking powder, salt and butter with a pastry blender or in the food processor.

Mix in onion and cheese. Whisk egg with milk and stir into the mixture.
Drop 1 teasponful of batter on the cookie sheet or silpat leaving 1 inch between scones.
Bake in preheated oven for 15 – 20 minutes until golden on top. Serve warm.
        Yield: 40 scones (2 ½ in.) approximately.
