| Purple corn |
| Purple corn is grown in Peru´s lands almost ten thousand feet high, as well as in the coast.
There are different varieties of purple corn and all of them originated from an ancestral line called “Kculli”, still cultivated in Peru. Purple corn contains substantial amounts of phenolics and anthocyanins, among other phytochemicals, that encourage connective tissue regeneration.
People in Peru prepare a refreshing drink from purple corn called “Chicha morada”.
