LEEK AND HAM GRATIN   
  Ingredients :
    2 lb 4 oz (1 k) whole medium size leeks, without the green part
    Ham slices, 1 slice per leek
    ¼ - 1/3 cup heavy cream
    3 ½ oz (100 g) gruyere cheese, shredded
    Salt
    Pepper
    Nutmeg

  Preparation:

Cook white part of leeks in salted water until tender. Drain and allow leeks cool to lukewarm.
Wrap each leek with a slice of ham and place it in and oven proof serving dish or in 2 individual dishes, previously buttered.
Combine cream with cheese, salt, pepper and nutmeg and cover leeks.
Bake in preheated oven to 400ºF (200ºC) until golden and hot. Serve.
