Melt butter in a medium size skillet and add mushrooms, rosemary (in small cheesecloth bag, if desired), salt and pepper.
Cook for 1 minute. Remove from heat and set aside for one hour, so ingredients marinade.
Remove rosemary, strain to eliminate liquid and mix mushrooms with mayonnaise.
Season to taste and spread filling generously on one layer of bread and top with another. Cut sandwiches as desired.
Place in a serving platter. Cover with damp cloth until serving time, to prevent sandwiches from drying.
Yields 40 sandwiches 2 x 1 ½ inches
